Uthai Thani is a town in Thailand, capital of the Uthai Thani province. It covers the whole district Uthai Mai of Mueang Uthai Thani district. As of 2005 it has a population of 17,510. Recent excavations have indicated that this area was inhabited by prehistoric people.
Uthai Thani is located on the main Train Route between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, and on the shore of the Chao Phraya River. It is the southernmost of the northern provinces, Uthai Thani only becomes mountainous in the western parts the location of the Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary, an area declared a World Natural Heritage site in 1991, that merges with the Thung Yai Naresuan Sanctuary to create the largest protected animal reserve in Southeast Asia.
Uthai Thani is an unspoiled and seldom visited province abundant in natural resources, extensive forest cover and wildlife. The reserve includes jungle, mountains, plains and a number of endangered animals. For visitors interested in soft adventure travel there are opportunities for rafting and hiking within the province.
It is divided into 8 Amphoes (district); Muang Uthai Thani, Nong Khayang, Nong Chang, Thap Than, Ban Rai, Sawang Arom, Lan Sak and Huai Khot.

Tak Bat Devo at Wat Sangkat Ratana Khiri is an important festival at the end of the Buddhist lent.
