The Full Moon Party is often described as a night out near Koh Samui, and that description can mislead people planning their first trip. The best-known event takes place on Koh Phangan, a separate island north of Samui, at Haad Rin. You may start your journey on Samui, but you cannot simply walk or drive to the party.

Do not assume the full moon fixes the event date
