Ask who creates and controls the account, how you will see the application and where notifications go. If an employer or representative submits on your behalf, read the details and keep a copy. Check that your name and passport number are accurate and that the job description reflects the work you will actually do. Incorrect information can cause trouble later, even when someone else typed it.

- Which official fees are due, and what period does the quote cover?
- What is included in the professional fee, and what costs extra?
- Who prepares and signs the employer documents?
- How will I receive receipts, the approval and renewal reminders?
A good answer does not need to promise a result. It should tell you what will be submitted, by whom and when the authorities will decide. A demand for a large cash payment with no itemised invoice deserves a pause. So does a promise that an invented job title or false employer address will make approval easy.
Renewals and changes
Put the relevant dates in your calendar and ask the employer when renewal preparation should begin. Keep track of both the work authorisation and permission-to-stay dates. They may not be the same. If your passport changes, your job ends or your employer reorganises, ask what must be reported and which documents need updating. A delay can affect more than the fee.
If you are leaving a job, confirm the handover in writing and keep your own copies. Do not leave all records in a company account to which you will lose access. If an employer has retained your original passport or you cannot obtain a receipt for an official payment, seek advice from the appropriate authority or an independent qualified adviser.
Look beyond the headline price
A bargain service that omits translation or renewal help may cost more later. An expensive service may include useful work, or it may simply hide charges behind a vague promise. Compare written quotations and ask what happens if the application needs more information. Make sure the person selling advice understands the category you actually use.
The old post was right to ask where the money goes. I would keep that question and retire the outdated headline percentage. In 2026 the sensible starting point is a current official fee for your case, a clear service quote and a proper application before work begins.
