The Thai money game

Most Thai people I met are into some kind of money game. It can be the underground lottery they are selling or they are buying, they can also lend money from other Thais or lending out money. Thai also have a lending circle that basically punishes the person who cannot pay every month and he or she have to put more money in the end.

All of these kinds of money games looks good but will only bring problems for a foreigner if you get involved. If your Thai girlfriend already boring money to other people then let her do it on her own that means she is clever enough and knows her way. If you get involved with your money you probably never see them again. If a Thai person will know that it is your money they probably do not want to pay back anymore because most people in for example north Thailand still think foreigners are made of gold. She can also pretend boring money to other people and while paying you back the daily money she “find new people” and borrow more money. Soon you will have loads of people owing you money but they are all people are all made up. When you finally discover this the girl will simple leave you hanging dry.

If you have a Thai girlfriend that is addicted to underground lottery or gambling you should just pack your bags and never look back. It is a road of misery and it has never a happy ending. Most of the time the rest of the in laws are addicted to gambling and some foreigners have simply got killed for some small money by their in laws.

The money circle is a very complicated and often involved friends and family and even if you put in money, you probably do not get them back ever. You may be simple forget them or the girl makes some excuses of family problem. Maybe you not with the same girl in one year or she will cash in while you are away in your own country.

I can make more examples but the very basic and simple truth about money, Thais, and foreigners in Thailand is that once you lend money to a Thai you will never get them back. Consider it as a gift or something but never ever expect the money to be returned to you. This is business or private it really does not matter it is the same thing.
