Sending flowers to someone in Thailand can be a thoughtful way to celebrate a birthday, say thank you or mark an important occasion when you are far away. A bouquet looks straightforward on the screen, but a successful delivery depends on details that are easy to miss: the recipient’s location, the florist handling the order, availability of flowers and the timing of the delivery.
The original version of this article recommended individual flower businesses and quoted a specific rose promotion from 2006. Those offers are historical, not a basis for choosing a service today. The useful question is how to compare a florist before paying and how to deal with a problem afterward.
Choose a florist that can explain who delivers the flowers
Before ordering, establish whether the company runs its own flower shop, uses a local partner, or forwards the order to another business. None of these models is automatically bad, but it should be clear who is responsible for preparing the arrangement and resolving delivery problems. A website with an international checkout can still rely on a florist in the recipient’s city.
Look for a business name, reachable customer service, a clear address or service area, and recent customer feedback from more than one source. Ask how it handles an unavailable flower variety, a delivery delay or a recipient who is not at home. A polished catalogue photo alone is not evidence that a particular bouquet will arrive exactly as pictured.
Make the delivery address usable in Thailand
Thai addresses can include building names, villages, house numbers, a soi, district, province and postcode. Where possible, ask the recipient for the address in Thai as well as English, plus a local telephone number that the courier is permitted to use. For a condominium, include the building name, tower and instructions for reception or security staff. For a hotel, first confirm that reception will accept a delivery for a guest.
Give a clear delivery date and time preference, but do not assume the florist guarantees a minute-by-minute arrival. If the delivery is meant to be a surprise, think through how someone can reach the recipient without revealing sensitive information or leaving flowers unattended in strong heat.
Understand what the price actually includes
Check whether the quoted amount covers the bouquet, card, delivery charge, any out-of-area supplement and taxes, or whether these appear later at checkout. Comparing one listing with another is difficult when bouquet sizes, varieties and packaging differ. Confirm the expected arrangement and whether the florist may substitute flowers that are not in stock.
The best value is not necessarily the lowest advertised price. Clear conditions, reliable customer support and an appropriate delivery window are often more useful than a large discount. Do not transfer money to an unknown personal account simply because a seller promises immediate service in a chat message.
Consider Thailand’s climate and flower availability
Flowers are perishable, and fresh arrangements can be affected by heat, transport conditions and the time they spend waiting for pickup. A florist familiar with the delivery area can recommend a suitable arrangement and advise whether the order should be delivered directly to the recipient. Ask whether the bouquet is prepared on the day of delivery and how flowers will be protected during transport.
Imported, seasonal or unusually specific flowers may not be available when requested. If an exact colour or variety matters, state that it is essential and request confirmation rather than relying on an automatic substitution policy.
Check the order confirmation and keep proof
Before paying, check the spelling of the recipient’s name, the message on the card, the contact number, the delivery address and the promised date. Save the order summary, the seller’s published conditions and your payment receipt. If the florist offers a delivery photograph, ask how it obtains the recipient’s consent and handles personal information.
If the bouquet is late or substantially different from the agreed order, contact the seller promptly and describe the issue clearly. Keep screenshots of the original description and any conversations. Ask for a proportionate remedy based on the circumstances and the seller’s terms; do not assume every disagreement automatically entitles you to a full refund.
If a delivery complaint cannot be resolved
First give the provider a reasonable opportunity to investigate a missed or damaged delivery. If you paid by card, your payment provider may have a dispute process with deadlines and documentary requirements. Thailand’s Office of the Consumer Protection Board also provides an official consumer complaint service; its remit and ability to help in a cross-border transaction depend on the case.
For a personal message that matters, the safest plan is to choose a traceable seller, order with a little flexibility and verify the delivery details before checkout.
