It’s going to be a very Christmas in Thailand after all. No I am not joking there will be no alcohol serving from the 14 of December 2007.
The law is to stop prevoters to be pushed to vote for a party when they are drunk or when they are given alcohol as a bribe.
It is very common to bribe people in North Thailand during the election but the military is carefully watching all money transactions.
The answer is to give Viagra, telephone cards and alcohol instead, that’s why the new law came into place. The law is same for tourist no alcohol is allowed to be served nationwide between Friday 14th at 6pm until Sunday 16th at midnight.

Elections on the 23rd will mean no alcohol will be sold from 6pm on the 22nd till midnight on the 23rd of December.
How this will affect tourism is anybody’s guess but I guess some people will be angry when they want to have a drink by the pool bar.
Big hotels maybe not affected but please check with your favorite bar and disco what they are saying.
