What if you loose your 90 days notification of stay in Thailand?

I lost my 90 days notification of stay notification document. If you stay longer then 90 days in Thailand you need to go there and report that you are in Thailand and where you are staying. This will not give you a visa or anything like that but if you do not do it they will fine 5000 THB. You also get fined for being late. I knew I was not late but I hoped they did not want me to pay 5000 THB for losing a document.

I went down to the Immigration in Bangkok in the middle of the week because I though there should be less people there and gee I was wrong I never seen so many people in my life there. I guess the high season and the rules make more people come to the immigration.

I went to the information counter or should I say number counter a place where the staff should speak English but cant.
I told her what I wanted and she had no clue but pointed me to counter number 3 and gave me a number. I filled in the form and went to the counter and they told me if I lost the form I need to go to the Police station next door and fill in a missing form application, take that back and then go to room 206 and then go back to them. There was no way I am going to waste my day on a grumpy Thai Police so I went up to room 206 direct with no police report and that turned out to be a good move.

In room 206 four happy ladies with little English but with big smiles tried to figure out what I wanted and then told me to help to look trough all papers they was given in the 14/11-2006. So there I sat helping the immigration finding my form and what struck me was how many Chinese people live in the same apartment. Maybe 20 or more have the same address and I guess some one gave them in for them and the Thai immigration did not care less if 100 people stayed there.

Finally a student that was working there found it for me and she went to copy it and I asked if I had to go to the Police now and they no just go down counter number 3. The girl in counter number 3 got lecture from her boss in a joking kind of way because I had no Police report but they really did not seem to mind. I guess they thought the girls in 206 wanted it for something I do not know.

I had some other questions about my visa and they told me to go to room 203 but they had a party so they told me to go down to counter number 1 and I told them they do not speak English but she was busy eating and just pointed me to the door.

Overall they are pretty nice but the problem is when you want to ask something there is not really anyone there that you can talk to unless you take someone that speak English with you. And the problem then is they just start chit chatting and you get half the information you should get.

The Thai immigration has a new number 1111 I not called it yet but I will and I let you know if it works.
