Samut Songkhram is one of the household provinces of Thailand. Local rabble label Samut Songkhram as Mae Klong. The crown is the cardinal of all Thai provinces areawise. Chang and Eng Bunker, the boon eminent Siamese twin was born here. The province is subdivided into 3 districts which are Amphoe Muang, Amphoe Amphawa, and Amphoe Bang Khonthi. The districts are further subdivided into 38 communes and 284 villages.

 

Samut Songkhram is the scepter of productive land, of plants and edible grains, the act inception of vegetables and fruits, as just as a spacious variety of seafood products. At the coast are many lakes for producing sea salt. The sandbar Don Hoi Lot at the mouth of the river is famous for its endemic shell population of Solen regularis. It is also an interesting historical source for the early Rattanakosin period. Samut Songkhram is an ancient province with a long history. Originally, it is believed that this province was once a part of Ratchaburi province, and called Suan Nork at that time. Then, towards the end of the Ayutthaya period going on to the Thonburi period, it was separated from Ratchaburi province and was called Mueang Mae Klong.

Provincial tree is Casuarina equisetifolia.
