To be really fair it is not only old foreigners that pay for love. Many people think that old foreigners come to Thailand to find young love with a hot Thai bar girl but that’s not really true. People that blame old men to come to Thailand and ruin the Thai culture and stealing the young woman have not really read in to the Thai history.
Older Thais with money have since long ago bought second wife’s called minor wives in Thailand (Mia Noi). Most of the Mia Noi are in the relationship for money some are in it for love but that’s not so common. Some very powerful people in Thailand have maybe 10 Mia Noi in different cites even if marriage with more than one wife is forbidden in Thailand.
The ironic thing is that many of these young girls that are forced or pushed  into becoming a Mia Noi with a powerful man in their village many times become a bar girl in Pattaya or Bangkok because she runs away from her older Thai man. When they arrive in Pattaya they will maybe end up with an older foreigner man instead but a man she picked.
This is nothing new in Thailand but what is pretty new are the tomboys in Thailand starting to get young girls as well. A well known tomboy called TOP (good name for a tomboy) that is well over 50 got herself a very young Thai model girlfriend. She (he) is well known for spoiling the young Thai girls with new cars like Benz and other things to win their hearts. In a Thai poll they asked others Thais if they think the young Thai model did it for money or love. About 80 % answered that they thought the girl did it for the money and cars not for love.
