The days of visa run are over for some people. The Thai immigration want to root out the main “no good expats†from Thailand and canceled the 30 days visa if you enter from a land border. If you take the visa run to get another 30 days you will only be given 15 days.
If you have a 3 or 6 month tourist visa then you will get the normal 30 days but after that only 15 days. That will force many people to fly out from the country and get a real visa.
Many of the people that take border runs are people that actually live and work here but do not have a work permit. That’s why the immigration trying to stop it.
You can even buy a visa run in the local food market as it is now but that is about to change.

Thai Immigration, ..due to thai mindset, and ..due to Police ‘seminars’ ..believes foreigners cannot be trusted.
The reality is more often, an older [retired] or younger
[refugee]…with limited assets [or exploited] attempts to ‘stay’ in an inexpensive locale. Being as such, to stay, many have to pay and pay to Thai Police.
The Foreigners’ own Embassy takes no interest in this
…the victim being victimized.
