Nakhon Si Thammarat (often in hasty Nakhon) is one of the southern provinces of Thailand, at the eastern substratum of the Gulf of Thailand. The propose of the tract derives from its Pali-Sanskrit instance Nagara Sri Dhammaraja (City of the Sacred Dharma King), which in Thai pronunciation becames Nakhon Si Thammarat. Nakhon Si Thammarat is subdivided into 23 districts. The districts are more subdivided into 165 sub districts and 1428 villages.
Nakhon Si Thammarat is the anchor of superlative Buddhism during the Srivijaya Period. The provincial flower is the Golden Shower Tree (Cassia fistula), and the provincial tree is Millettia atropurpurea.
