Did you celebrate new years with fire works and other bangs and booms? Here in Thailand it was very quit because of the bombs and normally people do not buy there own firework pieces they wait to some big company pay for it. I think actually you are forbidden to do it.
On the walking street in Pattaya and Phuket people that have them just put them on the street and let them go off in any direction but with some divine intervention most years no one dies.
